Founded in New Zealand in 2020 and expanded across Australia and international pet care markets, The Brooklyn (The Brooklyn Pet Store) operates as a direct-to-consumer pet wellness and lifestyle brand. Best known as the home of the original "Deep Sleep" calming pet bed, the company addresses common canine behavioural challenges—such as separation anxiety, hyper-reactivity, and joint discomfort—by engineering orthopaedic and sensory-comfort sleep systems.

From a product engineering and pet ergonomics standpoint, The Brooklyn differentiates its bedding portfolio through structural density and tactile calming materials:

• The Brooklyn® Deep Sleep Calming Bed: The brand's signature donut-style bed engineered with raised outer rims that create a secure "nesting" environment. This circular bolster acts as an ergonomic headrest while applying gentle sensory compression to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping alleviate canine stress during thunderstorms, fireworks, or solitude.

• Support Core & Filling Density: Unlike standard budget polyfill beds that flatten under moderate pet weight, The Brooklyn integrates up to 40% more filling density to provide joint alignment, pressure point relief, and long-term loft retention.

• Material Science & Hygiene Architecture: Constructed from vegan faux-fur composites designed to mimic maternal fur warmth without overheating. Beds feature removable, heavy-duty zippered covers that are 100% machine-washable and dryer-safe, paired with waterproof inner protective liners and non-slip, dirt-resistant base grip fabrics.

• Ecosystem Expansion: Beyond calming beds, the product architecture spans orthopaedic memory foam mattresses, faux-fur protective sofa throws, travel/car seat protectors, waterproof travel mats, and walking gear (tactical harnesses and dual-handle leashes).

Operationally, The Brooklyn couples regional design innovation with localized fulfillment infrastructure, routing regional deliveries through domestic logistics hubs (such as its Melbourne warehouse facility) to bypass slow cross-border dropshipping. Customer acquisition and retention are backed by flexible Buy-Now-Pay-Later payment integrations (Afterpay), a risk-free 30-day return/exchange policy, and social impact initiatives donating a portion of sales and beds directly to animal rescue shelters.
