Founded in Devon, United Kingdom, by friends Catherine Morrison (a former fashion buyer) and Dr. Catherine Gemmell (an NHS physician), The Truthbrush is an award-winning, B Corp–certified sustainable oral care brand. Positioned in the eco-luxury personal care segment, the company was established to tackle the global environmental crisis of non-recyclable plastic oral care waste by pairing medical-grade hygiene efficacy with refined, minimalist design aesthetics.

From a material science and product engineering standpoint, The Truthbrush replaces virgin petroleum plastics with renewable, biodegradable, and plant-based alternatives:

• Sustainable Moso Bamboo Architecture: Toothbrush handles are precision-crafted from fast-growing, sustainably harvested Moso bamboo—a material naturally anti-bacterial and organic that does not compete with giant panda food supplies. The ergonomic handles are dipped in non-toxic, child-safe water-based paints (featuring curated signature palettes such as Cloud White, Glacial Blue, and Meadow Green).

• Castor Oil Plant-Based Bristles: Diverging from conventional petroleum-derived nylon, the bristles are fabricated from 100% castor oil bean derivatives. Offered in soft, medium, and kid-safe densities, they are designed to clean enamel and sweep the gingival margin gently without abrasive microplastics.

• Electric Toothbrush & Sonic Integration: Expanding beyond manual brushes, the brand engineered biodegradable bamboo replacement heads compatible with major electric toothbrush platforms—including Philips Sonicare and Oral-B rotary units—resolving a major sustainability hurdle for electric toothbrush users.

• Zero-Waste Consumables & Accessories: The wider ecosystem includes Truthtabs (solid, chewable toothpaste tablets with fluoride in plastic-free packaging), bamboo interdental brushes, natural silk floss, and travel cases.

Operationally, The Truthbrush operates a transparent, low-carbon direct-to-consumer and wholesale model. As a certified B Corporation and member of 1% for the Planet, the business adheres to rigorous standards of verified social and environmental performance. Order fulfillment is supported through 100% recyclable, plastic-free shipping boxes and carbon-neutral transit partners, alongside recurring subscription replenishment programs (such as annual brush supplies).
